What Does Freeze and Float Mean?

After viewing the result, every candidate has to choose one of the available options.

Freeze

Choose Freeze if you are satisfied with your allotted college and branch. This confirms your admission in the allotted institute, and you will not participate in further counselling rounds.

Float

Choose Float if you want to keep your current allotted seat but also wish to be considered for a better college or branch in the next counselling round. If a better option becomes available in Round 3, your allotment will automatically be upgraded.

Students who receive their first preference (Choice No. 1) generally do not get the Float option because they have already been allotted their highest preferred choice.

Counselling Fee: Do You Need to Pay Again?

Many candidates are confused about the counselling fee.

Here’s the simple rule:

  • If you have already deposited 3,250 in Round 1, you do not need to pay it again for Round 2 or Round 3.
  • If Round 2 is the first time you have been allotted a seat, you must pay the 3,250 seat acceptance fee within the specified dates.

The previously paid amount remains valid for the first three counselling rounds.

What If You Didn’t Get a Seat?

If no seat has been allotted in Round 2, there is no need to panic.

Candidates can continue participating in the counselling process by waiting for Round 3, provided they remain eligible according to the counselling guidelines. Many seats become available in later rounds because some students choose to withdraw or upgrade their allotment.

Can You Keep Your Previous Round Seat?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions.

If you were allotted a seat in Round 1 and receive a new allotment in Round 2, the new allotment replaces the previous one. You cannot retain both seats.

However, if you are not allotted any better option in Round 2, your previous allotment generally remains valid according to the counselling rules.

Documents Required After Seat Acceptance

Candidates who accept their allotted seat should keep the following documents ready:

  • JEECUP Admit Card
  • Rank Card
  • Seat Allotment Letter
  • Class 10 Marksheet and Certificate
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Passport-size Photographs
  • Valid Photo ID
  • Fee Payment Receipt

Original documents will be verified during the admission process.

Important Advice for Students

Before choosing Freeze or Float, carefully check:

  • Distance of the college from your home
  • Branch preference
  • Government or aided institution
  • Future placement opportunities
  • Hostel availability
  • The previous year’s performance of the institute

Do not make a hurried decision simply because a seat has been allotted.

The declaration of the JEECUP 2026 Round 2 Seat Allotment Result marks another important step in the Uttar Pradesh Polytechnic admission process. Candidates should log in immediately, verify their allotted seat, complete the required payment if applicable, and select either Freeze or Float before the deadline.

Those who are still waiting for a better college should remain patient, as Round 3 counselling may offer improved opportunities based on seat vacancies. Always complete every counselling step within the official schedule to avoid cancellation of your allotted seat.
