Aikyashree Scholarship 2026:  For thousands of students across West Bengal, scholarships are not just financial support. They are the reason many students can continue their education without dropping out due to financial problems. Among the biggest scholarship schemes in the state, two names stand out the most — the Aikyashree Scholarship and the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship.

The Aikyashree Scholarship, launched under the leadership of the previous Mamata Banerjee government, has helped lakhs of minority students continue school, college, technical education, and professional courses. Every year, students wait for the portal to open so they can submit fresh or renewal applications.

Recently, when many students opened the official Aikyashree Scholarship Portal, an important notice appeared on the homepage:

“Applications with respect to POST MATRIC, TSP, MCM and SVMCM Fresh & Renewal applications for the Academic year 2025-26 can be made till 31st May, 2026.”

This means eligible students must complete their fresh or renewal applications online before May 31, 2026.

But this update has also created another major question among students and parents.

Will the Aikyashree Scholarship Continue After the Government Change in West Bengal?

After the recent political change in West Bengal and the formation of a new BJP-led government, many students are worried about the future of scholarship schemes started during the TMC government period.

A large number of students depend on this scholarship money for:

  • College admission fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Hostel expenses
  • Books and study materials
  • Coaching and examination costs

So naturally, many students are asking:

  • Will the scholarship stop?
  • Will renewal applications be cancelled?
  • Should fresh applications still be submitted?
  • Will funds continue this year?

At present, there is no official announcement stating that the Aikyashree Scholarship has been discontinued.

In reality, once a government scheme is approved through budget allocation and financial planning for a running financial year, it usually cannot be stopped suddenly overnight. Since the scholarship process for 2025-26 is already active and the application portal is functioning officially, students should not panic at this stage.

That means eligible students should continue to:

  • Submit fresh applications
  • Complete renewal applications
  • Upload documents on time
  • Track application status regularly

For the current academic session, the scholarship process is expected to continue normally unless any new official notification is issued by the government.

What may happen from the next financial year is something only future policy decisions can clarify. But as of now, there is no reason for eligible students to avoid applying.

What Is the Aikyashree Scholarship?
