IISER Kolkata Recruitment 2026: INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH KOLKATA (An Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India) Mohanpur, Nadia, West Bengal – 741246, has released a notification for the recruitment of Non-Teaching Positions through Direct Recruitment.
IISER Kolkata has released a fresh recruitment notification for 17 non-teaching positions. The recruitment is being conducted through direct recruitment, and eligible Indian citizens can apply for the advertised posts.
The notification, Advt. No. IISER-K/Admn/NT-04/2026, is dated September 19, 2026. IISER Kolkata is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, located at Mohanpur, Nadia, West Bengal.

The 10 Junior Assistant (MS) vacancies are distributed as UR-4, OBC-2, SC-3 and EWS-1. The notification also states that one position is reserved for Ex-Servicemen and one for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), as applicable under the recruitment provisions.
IISER Kolkata Recruitment: Who Can Apply?
The educational qualification and experience requirements are different for each post.
Senior Superintendent
Candidates should have a Master’s Degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade. In addition, at least five years of experience in Pay Level-6 or above as Junior Superintendent or an equivalent position is required in specified administrative, finance, academic, legal, audit, stores and purchase, establishment or related areas. The upper age limit is 38 years.
Counsellor
The post requires a Master’s Degree with 50% marks in Psychology, either Clinical or Counselling, or Social Work (Medical & Psychiatric) along with practical experience. Candidates should also have five years of experience in counselling students regarding academic, psychosocial and emotional issues. The upper age limit is 40 years.
Junior Engineer (Civil)
For the Junior Engineer post, candidates can qualify with a first-class Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and at least five years of relevant field experience in civil construction or building maintenance.
The notification also provides an alternative route through a first-class Diploma in Civil Engineering, along with at least eight years of relevant field experience. The upper age limit is 35 years.
Nursing Assistant
Applicants need a B.Sc. in Nursing from a recognised institute or university and must be registered with the Indian Nursing Council or a State Nursing Council.
The notification also requires five years of clinical experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital organisation, including eligible government or recognised private hospitals, nursing homes and other specified organisations. The upper age limit is 33 years.
Jr. Office Assistant (MS)
This post requires a Bachelor’s Degree with 50% marks in any discipline, along with excellent computer proficiency in applications such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Candidates also need four years of relevant office experience. The upper age limit is 33 years.
Jr. Assistant (MS)
There are 10 vacancies for Jr. Assistant (MS). Candidates need a Bachelor’s Degree with 50% marks in any discipline and excellent computer proficiency in Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
The required experience is three years in relevant office practices, hospitality and catering services. The upper age limit is 30 years.
Attendant
For the Attendant post, candidates need Matriculation or a three-year Diploma from a recognised university/institute in a relevant field.
The notification requires three years of relevant experience in areas such as laboratory, academic or research establishments, scientific equipment handling, computer networking and IT, CCTV networking, e-classroom, audio-visual equipment, cooking and catering, among others. The upper age limit is 32 years.
Salary and Benefits
The advertised posts carry pay according to the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, with the applicable Pay Level specified for each position.
The notification states that employees will receive allowances and benefits applicable to Central Government employees posted in Kolkata. Appointed candidates will also be covered under the New Pension Scheme of the Government of India and will be eligible for benefits such as medical facilities and LTC according to applicable Institute and Government of India rules.
Selection Process
The selection process will take place in multiple stages.
First, IISER Kolkata will scrutinise the online applications and shortlist candidates. If the number of applications is high, the Institute may use desirable qualifications, relevant experience and other prescribed criteria to restrict the number of candidates called for the next stage.
Depending on the post, shortlisted candidates may have to appear for a Computer Skill Test and/or Trade Test. These tests are qualifying in nature, and their marks will not be carried forward to the written-test stage.
The third stage is a Written Test of 100 marks, comprising:
- Part A: General – 50 marks
- Part B: Specialisation – 50 marks
According to the notification, final selection will depend on merit in the written test.
Age Relaxation and Reservation
The recruitment follows applicable Government of India rules regarding age relaxation. SC/ST/OBC candidates can receive applicable relaxation against reserved vacancies, subject to submission of valid certificates. No such relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against an unreserved post, as specified in the notification.
Reservation provisions are also applicable for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and EWS categories according to Government of India rules. Candidates claiming reservation must upload the required valid certificates during the online application and produce the originals during document verification.
Important Documents for Applicants
Candidates should carefully keep their educational, experience and category-related documents ready before submitting the application.
The Institute specifically states that experience certificates should clearly mention the designation, period of service, nature of work and pay, and should be issued on the organisation’s letterhead with the date, name and designation of the issuing authority, signature and stamp.

Application Fee
The total application fee is Rs.500, comprising a ₹450 application fee and ₹50 registration fee.
However, SC, ST, PwBD, Women, Ex-Servicemen and Transgender candidates are exempted from the ₹450 application fee and are required to pay only the ₹50 registration fee, according to the notification. The fee once paid will not be refunded.
