WB Minority Scholarships 2026-27: West Bengal Minorities’ Development & Finance Corporation (WBMDFC), (A Statutory Corporation of Govt. of West Bengal) has released a notification for the implementation of the Scholarship Scheme for Minorities 2026-27. Ref.: Order No. 1620-MD dated: 24-07-2026.
WBMDFC has announced that the NSP-WB Minority Scholarship Scheme for the 2026-27 academic session is expected to begin on 1 August 2026. Along with the announcement, the corporation has introduced several new mandatory requirements that every eligible student must complete before submitting a fresh or renewal application.
The official communication, issued on 28 July 2026, has been sent to all District Magistrates across West Bengal to ensure smooth implementation of the scholarship process.
WB Minority Scholarships 2026-27: Schemes Covered
The notification applies to the following WBMDFC scholarship schemes for the 2026-27 academic session:
- Pre-Matric Scholarship (Classes IX & X)
- Post-Matric Scholarship
- Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship
- SVMCM Scholarship for Minority Students
According to the notice, applications are expected to open from 1 August 2026, subject to the official launch of the online portal.
WB Minority Scholarships: New Mandatory Documents for 2026-27
Students applying for either fresh admission or renewal must now upload additional documents that were not compulsory in previous years.
The newly introduced mandatory requirements include:
- Voter ID (EPIC) -Self/ parent. In the case of orphan applicants, the Voter ID (EPIC) details of the legal guardian must be provided.
- Aadhaar Number –Self/Parent.
- Bonafide Student Certificate issued by the educational institution.
- Income Certificate issued by any Gazetted Officer.
The WBMDFC has clarified that these details must be entered correctly in the online application, and the supporting documents must be uploaded during the application process.
Renewal Applicants Will Notice a Change
Students renewing their scholarship who are currently studying in Classes VIIIÂ to IX, X, XI or XII will find that some information from previous applications has already been migrated into the Institute Login for verification.
However, the Institute Nodal Officer (INO) must now enter the newly introduced mandatory fields, upload the relevant documents and complete the verification process. Only after institute-level verification will the application move to the District Panel for further processing.
WB Minority Scholarships: Instructions for Educational Institutions
Before the scholarship portal becomes operational, schools and colleges have been instructed to complete several preparatory activities.
Institutions must:
- Update their profile on the WBMDFC scholarship portal.
- Verify and update minority student strength class-wise.
- Update any changes in fees and student details.
- Ensure Aadhaar details, mobile numbers, and other information are accurate.
- Generate reports through the district panel for smooth implementation.
Educational institutions have also been asked to organise awareness programmes with District Inspectors of Schools (DI), Sub-Divisional Inspectors (SI), Assistant Inspectors (AI), Heads of Institutions and Nodal Officers.
Aadhaar-Seeded Bank Account Required
The notification also stresses that every applicant’s bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded, linked and DBT-enabled for the 2026-27 scholarship session. Students who have not yet linked their Aadhaar with their bank account are advised to complete the process before applying to avoid delays in scholarship payments.
Institute-Level Orientation Programme
The Scholarship portal for the academic session 2026-27 is likely to be launched in the 1st of August, 2026. Prior to its launch, the following preparatory activities need to be completed.
All institutes already registered on the scholarship portal (www.nspwb.wbmdfc.org) must update their profiles. The updated information, including total student strength, count of minority student strength class-wise, gender-wise, course updation with fees, etc. for the current year, as well as updated INO/HOI details (Such as Aadhaar details, mobile numbers for sharing system-generated OTPs and other credentials through the district’s panel is essential for generating future reports and ensuring smooth implementation of the scholarship process.
To ensure a smooth rollout, institute-level orientation programmes will also be organised with all Institute Nodal Officers (INOs). These sessions will help educational institutions understand the revised application process and the newly introduced documentation requirements.
