WB PM Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana 2026 (PMCSPY): A fresh financial push has been announced for tea garden workers in West Bengal, with the Steering Committee of the Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana (PMCSPY) approving proposals submitted by the West Bengal State Level Committee.

The resting-shed component covers 88 sheds in the hills and 233 in the plains.

The PMCSPY is a Central government initiative focused on improving the living and working conditions of tea garden workers and their families in West Bengal and Assam.

West Bengal’s tea industry is concentrated largely in the northern part of the state, particularly the Darjeeling Hills, Terai and Dooars.

There was also a September 17 report in The Times of India quoting Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari as saying that the Union Commerce Ministry had approved a Rs.330 crore project proposal for development of the North Bengal tea belt. That figure appears to refer to a proposal/project amount rather than the ₹312 crore figure cited by Goyal for the Steering Committee’s approval.

Therefore, for this report, the Rs.312 crore figure is used for the latest announcement, while the earlier Rs.313.30 crore framework is provided as context.
