UPSC Prelims 2026 Answer Key

UPSC follows a negative marking system.

General Studies Paper 1

  • Correct Answer: +2 marks
  • Wrong Answer: −0.66 marks (one-third deduction)
  • Unanswered Question: No deduction

CSAT Paper

  • Correct Answer: +2.5 marks
  • Wrong Answer: −0.83 marks
  • Unanswered Question: No deduction

Example:

Suppose a candidate answers 70 questions in GS Paper 1:

  • Correct answers: 50
  • Wrong answers: 20

Calculation:

  • 50 × 2 = 100 marks
  • 20 × 0.66 = 13.2 marks deduction

Final Score: 100 − 13.2 = 86.8 marks
