A substantial portion of her meager daily earnings is consumed by commuting expenses.
The proposed scheme—offering free travel on KSRTC buses—could significantly alleviate the financial burden on women who rely on public transportation daily for work, education, and medical needs.
During its election campaign, the Congress party extensively promoted this initiative; it drew inspiration for this endeavor from similar welfare models implemented in Karnataka and Telangana following the Congress party’s rise to power in those states.
